Wait... Robin, Blue Beetle, Nightwing, Manhunter, and Birds of Prey are cancelled????

That's the majority of my comics reading, as well as the vast majority of my strong female characters.

I realize I know nothing about economics, but aren't these some of DC's consistently middle-selling comics, as well as some of the longer-running ones? And, in the case of Manhunter and Blue Beetle, the freaking best writing?

How come it is that I sometimes feel the urge to write when I'm on a limited time scale, as opposed to when I'm free? Right now I'm in Caribou Coffee in Silver Spring (mmm), feeling my muse, while I know that when I get home, I'll just feel like crashing?

I have problems reading fic with young characters having sex. It's a bit disturbing to me, especially since I work with kids as a large part of my job, but sometimes I can skip it for the plot. However, upon reading that Tim Drake is now eighteen, I don't have as much of an issue reccing [info]glossing's From your memory to this instant; Or, Forensics to [info]crack_van... Especially because of the scene with Dick and the pigeons...

Sometimes, I come across an utterly brilliant story in a fandom that hasn't produced canon in years, and it makes me happy to know that people still care about works, even though they're rather dated. Some things just shouldn't go away.

In other news, posting on [info]crack_van has been both fun and nerve-wracking, the latter mostly due to the fact that I haven't had internet at home this month, so I've been needing to find coffee shops and libraries to post from.

I'm signed up for DC comics recs on the crack-van community this week. I'm not very active in fandom other than reading loads of fic. I'm even shy about posting comments, although I am getting better. So this is new to me- if you see me recommending you, I really do love your fic...

In other news, Blue Beetle this week? Was full of totally phenomenal WIN. I've read it a few times, and every page makes me happy. Seriously, this is probably the best comics that DC's putting out right now, and I wish more people read it...

JBBS Fic: Untitled

Title: Untitled
Characters: Primarily Kon, Tim, Bart, Cissie, Cassie
Summary: Miss December was nothing short of a work of art. Kon wasn't quite sure how she didn't freeze, lying on a snow bank with nothing on but a red bikini and a Santa hat, but he was willing to chalk it up to an undiscovered superpower.

I wrote this for Roach in the 2007 JBBS, and am just a smidge of a bit late posting it on my own. I miss everything about Young Justice with so much of my heart.

Gen G, set immediately after the World Without Young Justice storyline.

Yuletide Story: The Ivy Green

I wrote for Nagia in this, my first Yuletide. Also the first fic I've posted in years, so I was pretty nervous. I tried to capture Dick's awkwardness as a college student coming back to Gotham on weekends, the way he was in B:TAS. I left Batman out because he and his relationship to Dick are both overwhelming in any sort of fic. I was asked for why Ivan the Man-Eating plant was around the Boy Wonder's legs, or an Ivy story. Somehow it ended up in a sort of day-in-the-life story.

The title refers to the Dickens poem.

Still no computer, so I haven't even had the chance to read beyond what I received for yuletide/jbbs.  I don't want to dive into an archive when I don't have loads of time to enjoy myself.  But I'd have to say I was absolutely thrilled by what I did receive, and will be writing to the authors shortly! 

New year's resolution: to start leaving comments and feedback to stories I read.  And not get any more late fees from my public library.

Yuletide and JBBS

I can't wait!  However, starting tomorrow morning, I'm pet-sitting and house-sitting where there is no internet!  NOOOoooo!  I am looking forward to this so much, but may not be able to look until Wednesday or Thursday, when I can get to a public library!  I can't wait!  This post does not have enough exclamation points yet! 

Anyways, I am on my toes, but I may not be able to read, let alone say how much I love it all until a few days later...

Computer's on it's way!  Hopefully I will have it on Tuesday, for a ridiculously expensive fixing charge.  I miss having something to write with so much!  At least everything on the hard drive is okay, since I have a few things I'm working on.  Worried about getting jbbs done because of lack of computer time, although yuletide is finished.  Whew.
